Markex report back

1 June 2004

For those readers in Cape Town, the Markex/World of Events Cape 2004 will be held at the new Cape Town International Convention Centre from 28-30 July. Produced by Exhibitions for Africa, the Johannesburg Markex/World of Events show, held 8-10 June 2004 in Sandton, was the largest Markex Show held to date, with over 330 exhibitors.
The Department of Trade & Industry's large area stand devoted to the display of stunning craft from previously disadvantaged communities, was a highlight for most visitors. The show was dominated by event services and corporate gifts, with some below-the-line activity. Lacking were mainstream and above-the-line services and agencies.
For 17 years Markex has positioned itself as South Africa's premier marketing and promotions exhibition, offering exhibitors a comprehensive and dynamic showcase.
Key marketing sectors include: corporate gifts; promotion and marketing services; business communications and direct marketing; conference organisation and event management; signage, exhibition stand design; as well as staging and infotainment.
Cape Town visitors will be entertained by:
1. WORLD OF EVENTS: an exhibition showcasing industry suppliers to the special events industry and those directly associated with it, will be co-located next to Markex.
2. ONE OF A KIND: co-located with Markex, the new One of a Kind exhibition is a celebration of our country's contemporary applied arts and crafts offering. With over 100 quality exhibitors from South Africa's nine provinces showcasing their unique products, One of a Kind presents visitors with the rare opportunity to discover the full scope of local crafts that can now be used for corporate marketing and promotion. Individually-crafted and superbly-styled, each piece sums up everything that makes South Africa and its people so unique. This year, featured categories include: Accent on Design, Contemporary Jewellery, Inside Outside, Jazzy Jozi, Dress Up and Gifts - all offering corporate buyers a wide variety of applied arts to choose from.
